hEDS'Omics Gene Study

This project aims to target the differences of age-matched people diagnosed with hEDS versus controls. The project took skin, blood, and urine samples from patients diagnosed from both groups in order to measure what may be different in the samples. Since hEDS manifests its symptoms differently in patients, having a foundation of what genes may be upregulated, what hormones may be different, and how different factors in the blood interact may lead to a better understanding of the disease overall and provide multiple avenues of future research. To accompany the data we receive back from their samples, we also asked the patients questions about different symptomatic areas to better understand how their symptoms may effect their quality of life. We believe that this is the largest cohort of hEDS positive patients versus health controls to do this type of a study, and the analysis is ongoing.
